(All) My Darlings
cabinet, printed envelopes filled with texts, sound of music
    2022

An ongoing archive filled with specific songs that hold a personal memory. The title makes a suggestion to William Faulkner’s well known quote “Kill your darlings”, which is a piece of advice that implies to revisit your writings objectively and without sentiment. This can be difficult advice to follow, like it would be impossible to kill a loved one. The reader gets to see the process of writing by crossing out different parts. This way the pages feel unfinished, just how memories are always changing and never really complete. The texts are stored inside envelopes that are printed with a typeface based on the counters (white spaces) of letters. Each envelope represents a song title that’s connected to the memory and is organized alphabetically inside the cabinet. Find the playlist on Spotify here.
